My email comment to his article is:-

Although for me it has always been the holy grail even though it lacks the amazing beauty of the nth degree mandelbulbs. It exhibits other properties I would expect to find. 1 axis of symmetry. But most of all is the unique yet similar alternatives. As a model exhibiting complexity it demonstrates both big bang universe, and ever evolving universe which all experience depending on the technique of observation. This is particularly clear in the 4d model although observable in the 3d model.

Just created a Google code page

Contains Java package to create animation frames.

Command line interface using bash scripts to control the frame perimeters

You will need need imagemagick to convert the ppm's to png's
and povray to render the height maps.

Java source contains algorithm for 3D to 5D shapes.

I well I've been busy uploading my videos onto youtube, creating google code account, photographing my models, and just going through my old stuff. You may notice that my blogging method is rather poor, I'm hoping it will get better.

I didn't use spherical coords in the way you did. Although the the maths I used was built around the process of rotating.

j x i = i

When I started this I was borrowing my Land Lady's son computer which was a 66MHz 486. So I avoided the computationally heavy trigonometry, and went for the more Cartesian approach.

Also I was only able create 640x400 images, So I made a model. This was made around 2000. It as just 4 sheets of A4 acetate interlocking.

It would be great to make real solid 3D model. But I can't even think were to begin.

I haven't been doing much on this stuff for ages.
Looks like we are all going on an interesting path now.
